Emissivity is a parameter that determines an object's ability to emit thermal radiation. The emissivity coefficient of most organic, painted and oxidised materials is 0.95, and this is the factory-set parameter. However, some materials, such as lead or aluminium, have a much lower emissivity coefficient, so if a measurement as close as possible to the real value is needed, you must first set the emissivity coefficient parameter to a value suitable for the given material. Emissivity coefficient tables can be found in the scientific literature or on the Internet

Low and high temperature alarm - this function is useful, for example, when detecting thermal bridges on cold days. Measure the temperature at the centre of the wall to obtain a reference, then set the low-temperature alarm a few degrees lower depending on the outdoor temperature. The next step is to measure the temperature in places where thermal bridges most often occur, for example wall-to-ceiling junctions, around window frames, etc. If the temperature reading falls below the set alarm value, you will hear an audible signal and additional indication on the display.

Measurement accuracy - the optics and control electronics in YATO pyrometers provide high accuracy and repeatability of measurements. However, due to many variables beyond the manufacturer's control, including humidity and ambient temperature at the measurement locations, it is impossible to calibrate the device so that its accuracy is 100% under all conditions. The manufacturer states a possible measurement error of 2%, but not less than +-2°C at an ambient temperature of 0°C-40°C. This means that with the correct emissivity coefficient set, a measurement result of 100°C should be interpreted as a value in the range 102-98°C
