YT-0673 Vacuum pump -1~0 bar, 16 pcs
Description
Measuring range: from -1 to 0 bar
Packed in a case
Designed for diagnosing systems whose operating principle is based on pressure or vacuum
Using the pump, the following can be diagnosed:
1. computerised engine management units:
- barometric pressure sensor (BARO)
- PCV system
- exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
- thick-film pressure sensors (MAP)
2. ignition control units:
- vacuum ignition advance
- delay valve: SDV, RCV
3. braking systems:
- conventional brakes
- ABS brakes
- air brakes
- brake cables
- brake booster
4. other systems:
- air conditioning
- cruise control
- fuel tank and fuel system
- vacuum door-closing system
How to use
Diagnosing the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system
The EGR valve is a vacuum-operated valve. When there is no vacuum the valve is closed and exhaust gases do not pass through the valve. When vacuum is applied to the valve, it opens, providing recirculation of exhaust gases.
Diagnosing thick-film pressure sensors (MAP)
• Assemble the pump and reservoir system as for bleeding brake callipers, then connect it to the vacuum fitting of the sensor.
• Press the pump lever until the needle shows -0.5 bar. Stop pumping and watch the pointer, it must be stationary. If the pointer moves, the MAP sensor is faulty.
• During operation the absolute pressure sensor sends a response to the on-board computer. The signal frequency is from 85 Hz to 160 Hz depending on the vacuum level. A frequency meter is required to measure the frequency; it must be connected in accordance with the instructions of the sensor and the meter.
Bleeding brake callipers.
• Make sure that the brake system expansion reservoir is filled with fluid to the nominal volume.
• Bleed in the following sequence:
- master cylinder, if it is equipped with a bleed valve
- brake callipers in order from the one nearest the master cylinder to the farthest
• Connect the short hose to the connection on the underside of the pump reservoir cover.
• Close the pump reservoir with the cover.
• Connect the long hoses to the cover connections. Connect the end of one of the long hoses to the pump, and the other end to the bleed valve (callipers) of the brake calliper. If necessary use an adapter.
• Press the pump lever 10-15 times to create a vacuum in the pump reservoir.
• Open the air bleed valve by 1/4–1/2 turn so that the pump reservoir is filled with fluid to about 5 cm. Tighten the bleed valve.
• Disconnect the pump hose from the bleed valve, the calliper bleeding procedure is complete.
• Before repeating the bleeding procedure on the next calliper, empty the brake fluid from the pump reservoir and bring the brake fluid level in the brake system to the nominal level.
