Description
Difference between models UT89X and UT89XD:
1. Temperature measurement vs LED test
UT89X - has a temperature measurement function (a K-type thermocouple is included)
UT89XD - cannot measure temperature. Instead a special "LED" mode is allocated on the rotary selector. The instrument applies elevated voltage to the probes (up to 11.1–12 V at 5 mA current), which allows lighting and fully testing not only ordinary diodes but also high-power LEDs, LED strips and matrices
2. Phase detection (Live mode)
UT89X - has contact Live mode, which allows using the multimeter as a classic indicator screwdriver. Connecting only one (red) probe to a socket or wire, the instrument by sound and screen colour unmistakably determines where "live" is and where "neutral" is
UT89XD - this mode is absent. For non-contact search of wiring in a wall only the standard NCV function remains (electromagnetic field receiver)
