Hacksaws cut metal profile, pipes, bolts and wood where there is no electricity or a neat cut is needed. The section includes 300 mm metal hacksaws including a reinforced aluminium one, a 300 mm wood saw, a Japanese saw for metal and wood, a 300 mm hacksaw frame, 300 mm metal hacksaw blades — standard, flexible and M42 32 TPI — and a bow-saw blade for dry wood.
The usual choice is a 300 mm metal hacksaw and spare 300 mm blades. For hard steel — M42 32 TPI blades; for awkward places — flexible blades. For wood — a wood saw or Japanese saw. Sheet and tinplate are cut with tin snips; the edge after cutting is finished with a file.
