A torque wrench tightens a threaded joint to a set torque — as required by the engine, wheel or equipment manual. The section includes wrenches with 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1" drive from 1 to 6000 Nm, beam, dial and digital with memory, wrenches with interchangeable open-end heads, torque screwdrivers 0.3–8 Nm, angle gauges, multipliers up to 10 000 Nm and torsiometers for wrench checks.

For a passenger car the usual choice is a 1/2" wrench for 10–335 Nm; for small fasteners — 1/4" and 3/8"; for trucks and machinery — 3/4" and 1": all sizes are in the 1/4" to 1" wrench group. Readings and memory on screen — with a digital wrench. For electronics and small screws — a torque screwdriver. Bolts finished by angle — with an angle gauge. High torque without a long lever comes from a multiplier; check wrench accuracy with a torsiometer.
